An explanation of key symbols used throughout the Mercury software.
Red asterisk
As within many systems, this indicates that the field is mandatory and must be completed, in order to save the record:
Blue plus
This is generally used throughout the system to highlight a field we recommend to complete:
There are two exceptions to this:
1. In the financial sections of the system, for example, on the Vacancy record. The blue plus in this instance identifies two fields where at least one should be completed. For example, either the Salary or the Package Value field must be completed (this depends on what the Fee is based on) on a permanent vacancy. The same applies to the fee, where the Fee% or the Permanent Fee field must be completed.
2. Placement validation - the mandatory address fields on the Address tab with a blue plus symbol must be completed. This is stated on the banner:
Padlock
This field cannot be amended manually. Either a workflow will trigger the change or there is another method. For example, with the work address below, there is a look-up field which displays all addresses on the Client record - the address must be selected from the look-up:
In the below example, the status field changes automatically if a Candidate is placed or if they finish a placement:
The Key
This indicates that the data being collected is sensitive, therefore, only users that have been given a specific security role can view/amend the data:
Question mark
You will find a lot of these throughout the system. Hover over it with your mouse for an explanation of the field:
Plus sign
This will always indicate that a new record can be created.
