This article highlights all new features & updates, plus important bug fixes, for v24 of Mercury, making the software easier to use, better for business development and improving your outreach. Email Editor is one of the main areas covered in this release. There has also been some significant development work for Info, Vacancies, Shortlists, Projects, Invoices, Contacts, Clients and Placements. What
In the Email Editor, recruiters can no longer search for or select inactive Client Contacts, inactive Candidates and inactive Users within the To, Cc and Bcc fields. This will prevent any accidental communication to a person who shouldn’t be contacted.

When searching for individuals within the To, Cc and Bcc, inactive Client Contacts, Candidates and Users will not be returned or selectable.
EMAIL EDITOR CV naming for branded & unbranded CVs NEW UPDATE 1557
What
We have made it easier for senders and recipients of emails that have CVs attached to see which CV is related to which Candidate. This allows senders of emails to know they have attached the correct CVs and the recipient to more easily open or save the documents and know who the CV is related to, without having to rename the file themselves.

How
The naming convention for the CVs has been changed so that the existing convention of calling them either cv.doc or branded.doc when attaching CVs via the email editor is changed to [<first name> <surname>] cv_branded - for branded CVs, and to [<first name> <surname>] cv - for unbranded CVs.
EMAIL EDITOR Allow Calibri size 11 font NEW UPDATE 1725
What
Within the Email Editor, users were unable to select Calibri as a font family and 11 as a font size, which resulted in a discrepancy between the Salutation and the body of the email.

What
Pasting in text from an external source into the Email Editor has sometimes been problematic, and formatting was retained during pasting. This often caused the Email Editor to breach its character limit. We’ve therefore taken the approach to strip all formatting when pasting text into the Email Editor.

When pasting in any text from an external source, all formatting will be stripped. The text will be pasted in a plain format, which will then allow the ability to format within the Email Editor itself :

What
As companies have brand guidelines, it’s everyone’s responsibility to follow and adhere to those guidelines. We’ve added a new feature within Mercury to restrict users from changing the font family and font size within the Email Editor.
Where
This requires a change to be made to the DEFAULT_EMAIL_STYLE within the Configuration section under the Support area of the Mercury Admin app :
Changing the <Value – boolean> to Yes will enable this feature and therefore users will no longer have access to change font family or font size within the Email Editor :
How
When using the Email Editor, users will no longer have Font Family or Font Size available for selection. Users will still be able to format the text within the Email Editor.

What
Last Contacted is invaluable within Mercury - it gives recruiters the information they need to restart communications with the Contact and see when they were last contacted by your company. Last Contacted should be a true reflection of when that individual was contacted and mailshots should not contribute towards this. We have therefore removed Sales or Marketing emails from contributing towards Last Contacted.

What
Within the Email Editor, we have defaulted the Salutation prefix to Hi, but as companies are using templates and might not necessarily want to prefix the salutation to Hi, we’ve taken the opportunity to make this configurable. You will now be able to set the salutation prefix to anything, including not having one.

EMAIL EDITOR Single email generating duplicates BUG FIX 16599
What
Resolved a bug whereby when there were multiple recipients in the To field for a Single Email in the Email Editor, each recipient was sent multiple emails. This has now been addressed and the Email Editor will no longer send multiple emails to the recipients.

What
When a Temporary Placement is converted to a Permanent Placement, customers can now decide if the Vacancy link is retained.
Where
A new configuration file will be added which controls if the Vacancy link is maintained during conversion, which is found within the Configuration section under the Support area of the Mercury Admin app. Converting a Temporary Placement can be done via the ribbon menu.
How
If setting <Value – boolean> is Yes on CONVERT_TO_PERM_LINK_TO_VACANCY then Vacancy will be populated on the newly created Permanent Placement when using the Convert to Permanent ribbon button on a Placement.

Resolved an issue where Nationality (free text) was still visible despite being included in the configuration record to hide the fields.
Where
The issue occurred when Nationality (free text) was included in a Client record and looking at the Contacts tab. Configuration files are within the Configuration section under the Support area of the Mercury Admin app. Schema field names can be added to the <Value – string> fields, where they will then be hidden on the Contact :
How
When including Nationality (free text) within the HIDDEN_FIELDS.CONTACT configuration file, it will no longer be visible on the Contact record.

Full configurability when finalising a Placement. It was found that when removing everything from Finalise Terms configuration files, users were still required to populate Candidate Company Address details.

PLACEMENTS Weekly margin not calculating correctly BUG FIX 12243
What
Resolved an issue where Weekly Margin on a Placement was not calculating correctly. This was only occurring on Placements where Frequency was set to Monthly. Weekly Margin was multiplying instead of dividing.

Weekly Margin is found within the Calculated Values section of a Placement.
How
Weekly Margin value will now correctly calculate when on a Monthly Placement. Calculation is as follows - Gross Profit / Number of Weeks :
As you can see from the screenshot above, the Placement started on 01/11/2022 and lasts until 30/11/2022, which equates to 4.4 weeks, therefore £1,023.26 / 4.4 = £232.56.
