This article explains how to troubleshoot an error when trying to shortlist Candidates.
(See article KA-01173 for details on how to shortlist a Candidate.)

Home > Contacts > Select your View > Click into a Candidate record> Click the As a Candidate tab > Select a Shortlist record > Progress Candidate

How 

After having followed the route above, sometimes the following error message has been known to appear:

Service failed: error


The error message can also sometimes appear when trying to Submit a Candidate or Accept Job Offer
 

The error points to a local IT issue with the user's machine - some common things to try to help troubleshoot the issue:

1. Clearing the machine's web-browser's cache via the browser settings.
2. Check that Pop-ups are enabled in the browser's settings, as the action is essentially a pop-up window, so needs enabling. 
3. Try the same action with the browser's Private/Incognito mode - does the same error appear?
4. Try changing the network that you are connected to - does the behaviour changed at all?
5. Check for any Extensions on your browser that could be causing this issue - try disabling them and try again.
6. Try a different web browser - Google Chrome is recommended.
 

If no luck with any of the above...

Try a different machine. Log into a different machine and try the same action. 
If this works then the machine itself is the cause of the issue. A new/different machine will be needed which you can request from your local IT team.
