How
1. Data can be imported into the Mercury CRM so that all user data can be kept in one place. Accounts, Leads, Opportunities, Activities and Cases can be imported, regardless of how the data is stored in spreadsheets or other databases.
To ensure consistency of data, please ensure data is not missing within the file, that it is complete and that all spelling is verified and correct. This ensures consistency and accuracy of data.
NOTE: The maximum file size allowed for importing is 8MB.
Mercury CRM supports the following file types:
Excel spreadsheets .xml
Comma-separated values .csv
Text .txt
Excel workbook .xlsx
2. The Import Data Wizard can now be run. To do this go to Advanced Settings:
3. Navigate to Data Management by clicking on the arrow next to Settings highlighted below:
4. Then click on Imports:
5. Click on the Import Data button which will open the wizard in a smaller window:
6. Select the file you wish to import from your local machine and then click Next:
7. The following screen will then appear:
8. Verify that the field and data delimiters are correct.
NOTE: The default delimiter for fields is a comma (,). The other supported delimiters for fields are colon (:), semicolon (;), and tab character (/t).
Example of a field delimiter: Company Name,Address,City,State
The default delimiter for data is double quotation marks ("). The other supported delimiter for data is the single quotation mark (').
9. Click Next. The screen below will appear which is where the Data Import Wizard determines which fields to use for the data:
10. You can either select Default (Automatic Mapping) if you want the wizard to determine the corresponding fields in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premise) automatically. If the wizard can't find a field, you'll have the opportunity to map it yourself.
OR you can select For Generic Contact and Account Data if your import file contains Contacts and Accounts and that Contacts are the main type of data.
11. Click Next to move on to the Record Type:
12. You now need to select the Record Type to determine the type of record being processed:
13. Click Next:
14. You now need to confirm that the Data Wizard has mapped all fields in the import file to the correct fields in Mercury. For example, an import file containing Contacts may have a field for First Name, Last Name and Job Title, so make sure that those fields are mapped correctly to the corresponding fields in Dynamics.
For any field in the import file that is marked Not Mapped go to the Field Types drop-down list and select the field name to use in Dynamics. You may need to scroll down to see all available fields.
15. Click Next for the Mapping Summary screen which you will need to review:
16. Once you have reviewed the final summary of the Mapping Review click on Next.
17. The Additional Import Settings screen will now appear as below, where you will need to select whether duplicate records are allowed to be imported. You will also need to select the owner of the imported records:
18. When you are happy with your selections and you have reviewed everything, you can then click Submit:
19. When the Successful message appears you can then click Finish.
20. Navigate back to Advanced Settings > Data Management > Imports where you should now see the imported file:
