This article explains how to manage and change maintenance windows when Microsoft release and import their regular solutions for Dynamics and software updates. 

NOTE: The instructions in this article can only be carried out by your organisation's System Administrator.

How

Microsoft regularly performs maintenance and carries out updates on Mercury. These updates can include new features, potential bug fixes, performance optimisations and security enhancements.

These updates are imported into Mercury/Dynamics365 as solutions using a deployment schedule, whereby Microsoft carry out the updates region by region. These updates are deployed via the Power Platform Centre.

There are also two major service updates each year - one in April (Wave 1) and the other in October (Wave 2). 

IMPORTANT NOTE: During the process of importing Microsoft solutions, sometimes there can be a noticeable decrease in the performance of Mercury if there are users still logged in and using the system. This is why the option of changing the local scheduling of your organisation's maintenance window is of great benefit. During times when your users are not online and not using the system, Microsoft are able to subsequently update Dynamics with ease and with no adverse effects on any users. 

1. To change or view your maintenance window a System Administrator can log into the Power Platform Admin Centre via admin.powerplatform.com

2. Click on Environments and select your environment, then click on Settings as below:




3. Locate Updates and then click on Maintenance Window Settings:





4. A window will display the times during which updates can be received from Microsoft: 





5. Clicking on the time will show a selection of different time slots to choose from:




NOTE: It is always best to select a time slot when your business has the fewest users working, as these updates can sometimes affect the performance of your Mercury CRM.
