Microsoft 2024 Release Wave 2
Each year, Microsoft release two product updates called Waves. The first of these was rolled out during March this year and the second is due to begin rolling out in October. A full schedule is below.
As Microsoft Partners, we always look at how the Wave release could affect Mercury, to ensure that your experience is consistent and stable, and we also look at where we can bring the latest features and functionality into Mercury.
For example, as part of the Wave 1, you may have noticed Microsoft Copilot appear in different areas of Mercury, such as the Highlights area of the Activities Timeline. Please note that as these are still in the early stages of development, we are not currently recommending their use.
The 2024 Wave 2 release will not have any significant impact on Mercury users, and you should see no real change in the version 31 release of Mercury. We continue to advise that you do not use the “Try the new look” option, and that you switch Off the Microsoft Copilot auto-fill which was recently defaulted to be On by Microsoft.
We are in the process of assessing if there are any advancements that we can factor into further releases, and we will keep you updated as and when there is more news about that.
Users may notice changes to the interface which aligns with the latest Microsoft design system. This will provide us with more options to work with design in future releases.
Clients with a Sandbox environment may wish to test the new features against any customised functionality.
If you have any questions about the Wave release or would like more information, please take a look at the Microsoft Release page or reach out to your Mercury Customer Success Manager.

WHERE: Mercury → Customers → Contacts and Mercury → Recruitment → Vacancies
HOW: These buttons can be accessed from the Contact and Vacancy form ribbons.

WHERE: When using Textkernel or DaXtra on-demand parsing.
HOW: When selected, a “busy” icon will appear while the processing happens and then the user will be taken straight back to the created contact record.
63357: Add Activity Grid to Mercury Account
WHAT: A new sub-grid on a Client, showing certain activities.
WHERE: Mercury Client form and bottom of the ‘Recruiting’ tab.
HOW: Created a new view on a Client, which currently only shows Phone Calls, however, this will show Phone Calls which are ‘Client Contact’ Phone Calls made To or From any Client Contact working at that Client.
We have also provided the ability to filter on Activity Purpose within this view.
NOTE: The Client Activities control cannot be interacted with and will be deprecated in v32 of Mercury

Software Fixes
Here is a list of fixes we’ve put in place in Mercury v31:
59842: State not pulled through from Textkernel-parsed CV
On the CV document entity, when parsing a CV via Textkernel, the State was not being carried, extracted and mapped to a State value.
61776: Reference Script Error
There was an error shown when toggling 'Company Known to Database' and ' Referee Known to Database' in the 'Contact Related References Given' or 'References Received' areas.
65164: Toggles become deselected when saving changes to new Mercury Forms
There was an error where Shortlist and Phone Calls toggles both became deselected when saving changes to the Mercury Contact Candidate tab.
61086: Postcode Clearing
There was an error when creating a Client, Vacancy, Fee, Placement, Contact, Candidate Company and Address where the Postcode populated and then cleared immediately.
51924: Entity icons not showing for Activities and Clients in New Look
We have resolved an issue where entity icons were not showing for Activities and Clients in New Look.
64950: Vacancy tab default to Skills & Tags
The Skills Tag tab in the Vacancy form should no longer open by default when viewing or creating a Vacancy.
65038: Idibu field mapping
Corrected fields sent to Idibu in Vacancy > Manage Adverts.
66568: DaXtra Parse exception thrown
There was an issue where an error was thrown when parsing the attached CV using DaXtra. It did not affect Textkernel.
14876: Appointment plugin change
The 'SetAttendeesAddress' plugin was preventing the syncing of Appointments from Outlook to Dynamics 365 if the Contacts are Candidates. The issue occurred when setting the 'Regarding' field for an Appointment from Outlook using the Dynamics 365 Add-in.
55031: FTs not creating for different Rates
We have ensured that Financial Transactions can now be created for different Rates in Placement Timesheet & Expenses using the correct original dates in the plugin to determine if more Financial transactions need to be created.
64054: Email Editor close button
Fixed an issue where users could close the Email Editor while it was sending the email. The specific context around this fix is that previously it was possible to confuse the Email Editor by trying to close the window using the 'Close' button while the email was being sent - users would receive an error message. In order to prevent this, the 'Close' button will now become locked-out as soon as the 'Send Email' button is clicked. It will still be possible to close the window itself by clicking 'X' on the window.
488: Placement GP calculation - improve Day calculation
Fixed a bug in the Placement GP calculation whereby if the start date of the Placement was a Friday, the Number of Days calculated was 2 too many. Now the number of working days will be correctly calculated for the GP calculation, regardless of the start day.
17867: Compliance URL changing on Placement extension
When extending a Placement, you can now open the Compliance Evidence without manually amending the URL, and the URL does not change in any way following an extension.
64773: Broadbean v1 config not hiding Advert Status tab on Mercury Vacancy form
There was an issue where config was not respected in the Mercury Vacancy form.
66037: AGREEMENT_MANDATORY_ON_PLACEMENT not working
AGREEMENT_MANDATORY_ON_PLACEMENT config was not being respected.
67895: Script error on loading of Placement in both UCI and V2 Forms
Function calling was incorrect in the code. This has been corrected by calling them through namespace.
67955: Validated tab showing on unfinalised Placements
Validated tab should be visible when a Placement has been finalised with new Placement Validate.
68409: EWI - Alternate Key missing from Mercury Core for emails
We identified an issue where the Alternate Key for Emails was missing from the Core solution.
45695: Save & Close causing Fee Issue Status change
We have removed the 'Save and Close' button on the Fee form to prevent the Fee's Issue Status from reverting to Pending when saving the record.
65312: Not all Tags are retained at initial Contact record save
Tags are now retained on initial record save in Vacancy and Contact.
66425: Shortlist update Time zone not showing
On Vacancy Candidates when a Candidate is selected and 'Update Interview' selected, the Time zone drop-down now displays time zones.
68410: Address entity - State & Country not respecting mandatory config
Previously on the Address entity the State and Country fields were not respecting the mandatory configuration.
64189: Original Placement Status not updating
When a Placement is extended and config OVERRIDE_LEGACY_EXTENDED_PLACEMENT_CLOSURE = No, the original Placement status will update automatically to 'Completed - Extended'. If the config = Yes, the original Placement status will not update and will remain at 'Completed' status.
NOTE: The extended Placement's Status Reason also needs to be beyond 'Pending'.
Known Issues
We currently have the following known issues in Mercury v31:
69427: “Current Client” column on the Contact table is incorrectly labelled as “Company Name”.

Important additional notes for this release
Web browser Pop-up blockers
When using the new Mercury forms, users are required to enable browser Pop-ups for their Mercury domain. We suggest that, if possible, your local IT creates a network policy to enable this for all Mercury users, so that it doesn't rely on individual users having to do it themselves.
